From Humble Beginnings to Regional Leader

Patriot Fire Protection, Inc. was established in 1990 by second generation fire sprinkler professionals who believed there was an opportunity in the Pacific Northwest for a locally managed, customer-responsive, family-owned entrepreneurial company.

During those first years, Patriot operated out of its Tacoma office serving customers in the Seattle/Tacoma construction markets. It wasn’t long before the needs in Spokane and Vancouver/Portland became apparent, and we opened offices to support growth more comprehensively in the Northwest.

In 2003 we were selected to design and install fire sprinklers in the U.S. Department of Energy’s nuclear waste treatment facility under construction on the Hanford Nuclear Reservation in eastern Washington. This multi-decade and complex federal construction project was the largest of its kind in the world.

As we headed into the 2008 recession, the construction market looked grim. Patriot was fortunate to partner with Amazon on the construction of its new South Lake Union campus which spurred additional opportunities as they expanded into other parts of the Seattle/Bellevue area. Because of Amazon’s business and the additional opportunities that arose due to this work at Facebook, Google, Microsoft and others, Patriot weathered the recession and emerged as a leader in the fire sprinkler space.

Any slowdown in new construction, whether it impacts our business or not, provides an opportunity to diversify offerings and build an even stronger foundation that can weather market fluctuations. In response, we established our after-market organization which provides inspection, testing, maintenance and special project support for existing sprinkler systems. We also grew into the fire alarms world and continue to grow in proficiency and expertise as we install, monitor and inspect these critical life-saving systems.

Today, over 300 dedicated employees across our 3 locations continue to successfully meet customer demands for new technology, knowledge partnership, and outstanding on-time performance. Patriot Fire Protection maintains a commitment to be that locally-owned family business where the customer comes first and expectations are exceeded, not just met.
